Betty M. Hiles, age 83, of Mt. Sterling and formerly of Beardstown, passed away at 12:55 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Mt. Sterling.

She was born February 5, 1933 in Beardstown, Illinois the daughter of Harry and Alberta Scholl Spicer.  She married Virgil L. Hiles on February 27, 1954 and he preceded her in death on February 21, 2010.

Mrs. Hiles was a homemaker and had also served as a home healthcare provider for several years.

She attended Beardstown schools and was a member of the Mt. Sterling First Baptist Church. 

Betty enjoyed baking, making crafts, sewing and she truly loved the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include 2 children Diane Noble (Mark) and Joe Hiles (Joan) all of Mt. Sterling. 1 sister Susan Henry of Beardstown.   2 grandchildren Robert McKinney and Katie Noble.  2 step grandchildren Jeff Rybakowski and Chris Gandara.  6 great grandchildren also survive and she was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her 7th great grandchild. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 step grandson Matt Sullivan, 2 brothers Rollie and Carlos Spicer and 1 sister Mildred McCormick. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2016 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Rev. Aaron Foster officiating.

Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Brown County Ministerial Alliance or Food for the Poor.
