Betty Katzenburger

Betty Lucille Katzenburger, age 84, a resident of Timber Point Healthcare Center in Camp Point, and formerly of Ripley, passed away at 1:33 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016 in the nursing home.

She was born May 24, 1931 in Ottumwa, Iowa the daughter of Jasper Lee and Veona Grace Carl Toopes.  She married Floyd Nelson Katzenburger, Sr. on October 30, 1951 in Ottumwa, Iowa and he preceded her in death on March 30, 2006.

Mrs. Katzenburger was a homemaker.  She attended Ottumwa, Iowa schools and was of the protestant faith.  Betty was a member of the Mt. Sterling American Legion Post #374 Auxiliary.  She always enjoyed crocheting, knitting and solving crossword puzzles. 

Survivors include 1 step-son Floyd Katzenburger, Jr. (Karen) of Mt. Sterling.  2 brothers John and Raymond Toopes both of Ottumwa, Iowa.  3 sisters Mabel Headley and Patricia Long both of Ottumwa, Iowa and Fern Pate of Omaha, Nebraska.  7 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 step-daughter Sandra Conroy, 3 sisters and 5 brothers.

Per Betty’s request cremation will be accorded and graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016 in the Mt. Sterling City Cemetery with Rev. Richard Young officiating.
