Carl D. Brenneman, age 86, of rural Clayton, Illinois died at 4:25 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born June 1, 1929 at Grantsville, Maryland to Daniel J. and Leila (Yoder) Brenneman.

On June 5, 1951 he married Martha R. Yoder.  They shared the joys and sorrows of life 64 years, 9 months, and 23 days.

He was a member of Siloam Springs Amish Mennonite Church of Clayton, Illinois.

Besides his wife, he is survived by 9 children.  Naomi (Emery) Stutzman of Hickory, Kentucky, Paul (Rhoda – deceased) Brenneman of Bangor, California, Esther (Ivan) Yoder of Clayton, Illinois, Elizabeth (William) Stutzman of Danville, Arkansas, Dora (Andy) Wengerd of Paris, Tennessee, Lois (Daniel) Stutzman of Belleville, Arkansas, Rosemary (Mervin) Yoder of Olney, Illinois, Leona (Ernest) Yoder of Clayton, Illinois, Susanna (Jonathan) Troyer of Clayton, Illinois.  One brother Henry (Mary Emma) of Grantsville, Maryland.

He has 75 grandchildren and 107 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 infant children, 1 daughter-in-law, and 3 great grandchildren, 2 brothers Paul and Mark, and 3 sisters Verda, Sarah, and Ida.

Funeral services are at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2016 at Siloam Springs Amish Mennonite Church, and burial at their church cemetery.

Viewing and visitation at the Siloam Springs Amish Mennonite School on Wednesday evening 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Thursday evening from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.

The Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling is in charge of the arrangements.
