Donna Jean Ray Powell, age 80, of Roodhouse, Illinois and formerly of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 5:05 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2016 at White Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in White Hall, Illinois. 

She was born July 17, 1935 in Cooperstown, Illinois the daughter of Hallett E. and Kathryn M. Logsdon Ray. 

Donna was a homemaker and had also owned and operated a 76 Truck Stop in Arkansas for several years.

She graduated from Peoria Academy of Our Lady and then received her Bachelor’s Degree in business administration from Robert Morris College in Springfield, Illinois.

Donna was of the catholic faith.  She was an avid baseball fan and always enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, gardening, cooking and playing cards. Donna had a special place in her heart for cats and dogs, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family.

Survivors include 13 children.  2 sisters Dorothy Mayfield of Ursa, Illinois and Marilyn Kramberg of Camp Point Illinois.  1 brother Van Ray of Nesbit, Mississippi.  Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive along with her longtime friend and companion Paul Hopper.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister and was widowed 3 times.

Cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2016 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.

Burial of the cremated remains will follow in the Mt. Sterling Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Sterling Catholic Cemetery.
