Gala Lynn (Lichtsinn) Reische, age 70, of Timewell, Illinois went to heaven on September 6th, 2017. She was born November 10, 1946 to Ernest and Mildred (Klingler) Lichtsinn.  She went to Brown County Schools and attended the Lutheran Church.

In 1963 she married Ernest Smith and to this union 3 sons were born.  She married Richard Lynn Reische in 1983 at the First Lutheran Church in Mount Sterling and to this union she became a stepmother to 3 children.

Gala enjoyed her work for the community. She worked as an E M T and a dispatcher for the Brown County Police Department. She also volunteered several years for the Share Program and the Brown County Food Basket. She dedicated her life to helping others. Gala believed that no matter how little you have, you can always find something to give. Some of her favorite activities were watching crime dramas, reading, and spoiling her grandchildren. Gala also loved gardening and said her mother taught her the secret to a beautiful garden was to plant a seed and pray.

Survivors include her husband Richard Lynn Reische, 2 sons Scott Smith of Mount Sterling and Jeremy (Gale) Smith of Timewell. 3 stepchildren Bill Reische of Mount Sterling, Alan Reische of Quincy and Sherilyn Umphreys (Vern) of Versailles. Grandchildren include Wes Smith, Abby Hausmann (Josh), Cody and Wyatt Johnson, Hayley, Brittany, Jacob and Jonah Smith and 1 great grandchild Gabriel Hausmann. Survivors also include 1 brother Leslie Lichtsinn (Pat) of Timewell and many cousins, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by 1 son Richard Smith, 1 brother Mark Lichtsinn and her parents.

Per her request cremation will be accorded and graveside services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 11, 2017 at the Becam Cemetery in Pea Ridge Township of Brown County with Rev Matt Haberman officiating.

Memorials are suggested to the Brown County Food Basket and may be left at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.

There will be no visitation.
