Gladys Eichelberger

Gladys Pearl Eichelberger, age 71, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 8:04 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at her residence.

She was born June 27, 1945 in Beardstown, Illinois the daughter of Roy and Helen Tucker Davis.  She married Ted Eichelberger on September 4, 1964 at the First United Methodist Church in Tremont, Illinois and he preceded her in death on November 16, 1988.

Mrs. Eichelberger served as an accounts receivable clerk for Dot Foods in Mt. Sterling for over 21 years and also assisted her husband with the operation of the family farm near Versailles for several years. 

She graduated from Beardstown High School with the class of 1963 and then attended Midstate College of Commerce in Peoria, Illinois.

Gladys was a devoted member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Beardstown, having served the church in numerous capacities.

She always enjoyed reading and researching family genealogy. 

Survivors include 3 children John Eichelberger (Kim) of Mt. Sterling, Jennifer Doias (Tommy) of St. Louis, Missouri and Chris Eichelberger (companion, Niki Linn) of St. Louis, Missouri.  4 grandchildren Joshua Eichelberger (fiancée, Emily Boyd) of Versailles, Kayla Eichelberger (companion, Dakota Smith) of Mt. Sterling, Nolan Martin of Canton, Missouri and Hannah Doias of St. Louis, Missouri.   1 great grandson Mason John Eichelberger of Versailles also survives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother Ernie Davis, 1 half-sister and 3 half-brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2017 in the First Southern Baptist Church in Beardstown with Rev. Brian Kenney officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Hersman Cemetery in Hersman, Illinois.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.   Friends may also call one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice or the First Southern Baptist Church in Beardstown.
