Jeffrey Charles “Jeff” Yockey, age 64, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2017 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

He was born April 5, 1953 in Beardstown, Illinois the son of Verlin Wayne and Mildred Lucille Flynn Yockey. 

Mr. Yockey worked as a bricklayer for Two Rivers Regional Council for several years.

He graduated from Brown County High School with the class of 1971 and then attended Culver Stockton College in Canton, Missouri.

Mr. Yockey was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served his country in the United States Army.

He was a member of the Mt. Sterling First United Methodist Church.  He was also a former member of the Mt. Sterling American Legion Post #374.  Jeff was a diehard Chicago Cubs and Dallas Cowboys fan and truly had a love of animals.

Survivors include 1 brother Ronald Yockey (Linda) of Nauvoo, Illinois and 1 sister Deborah Bey (Dr. Douglas) of Normal, Illinois. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 4, 2017 in the Hersman Cemetery with Rev. Aaron Foster officiating.   A military service will be conducted at the graveside.

Friends may call after 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, with the family meeting friends from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Quincy Humane Society.
