Jodi Lynn Grover-Banta, age 47, of Versailles, Illinois passed away at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, November 20, 2016 at her residence.

She was born February 11, 1969 in Rushville, Illinois the daughter of John Allen and Marilyn Eileen Thomas Grover.

Jodi worked as a medical assistant at Elmer Hugh Taylor Clinic in Beardstown, Illinois. 

She graduated from Brown County High School with the class of 1987 and she then graduated from Vatterott College in Quincy with a medical assistant certificate.

Jodi was of the Christian faith.

She was known as a very hard worker who truly loved the time she spent with her family.

Survivors include 2 children Ciara Cooley (Ryan) of Versailles and Nathan Banta (Randee) currently serving in Japan with the United States Marine Corps.  Her mother, Marilyn Grover, of Mt. Sterling.  4 brothers Monty Grover (Cheryl) of Quincy, Tom Grover (Beth) of Rushville, Greg Grover (Lisa) of Springfield and Neil Grover of Mt. Sterling.  1 sister Penny Smith of Rushville also survive along with several nieces and nephews.  Jodi was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her first grandchild. 

She was preceded in death by her father, 2 sisters Randi Grover and Kathy Blentlinger and 1 nephew Garrett Grover.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2016 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Pastor Michael Smith officiating.

Burial will be in the Hersman Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home.   Friends may also call from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday in the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Culbertson Memorial Hospital or Brown County Against Cancer.
