Karen Kay Henrick, age 60, of rural Winchester, Illinois and formerly of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 8:50 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2017 at her residence. 

She was born September 21, 1956 in Springfield, Illinois the daughter of Edward and Rosemary Howard Husted.  She married Thomas R. Henrick on August 4, 1984 at the Mt. Sterling Presbyterian Church of Christ, and he survives.

Karen served as a case manager for the Brown County Mental Health for 15 years, retiring due to ill health.

She graduated from Brown County High School with the class of 1974 and attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois.

Karen enjoyed traveling and growing and canning vegetables from her garden, but her greatest joy was spending with her children.   She was an excellent seamstress and was known for her baking skills, especially for her pies and noodles.  Karen was a very kind person and animal lover who helped many pets find their forever homes.  She was the best middle sister any family could ask for.  Karen was devoted to her husband, children and family and they were her dedicated care givers when she could no longer care for herself.

Survivors include her husband Thomas Henrick of Winchester.  Her mother Rosemary Husted of Warsaw, Illinois.  2 daughters Sara Henrick of Winchester, Illinois and Kelsey Henrick of Vancouver, Washington.  1 stepson Seth Parker (Kara) of Ashland, Illinois.  4 brothers Harry Husted (Charlotte) of Marco Island, Florida, Carl Husted of  Springfield, Illinois, Brian Husted of Mt. Sterling and Hayes Husted (Betty) of Beardstown, Illinois.  3 sisters Elizabeth Buchanan (Sonny) of Hazzard, Kentucky, Sandy Quinn (Steve) of Mt. Sterling and Rita Ikerd (Mike) of Warsaw, Illinois.  2 grandchildren Kashton and Kade Parker also survive along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, paternal grandparents Carl and Veda Husted and maternal grandparents John and Reta Howard.

Per Karen’s request cremation will be accorded and there will be no services or visitation at this time.

Memorials are suggested to the American Transplant Foundation and may be left at the Hendricker Funeral Home.
