Kathy Ann Grady, age 57, of Versailles, Illinois passed away at 1:24 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Mt. Sterling.
She was born January 19, 1959 in Pittsfield, Illinois the daughter of Merle, Jr. and Anna Maxine Phillips Garrett. She married James Douglas Grady on June 5, 1977 at the Griggsville Nazarene Church and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2009.
Mrs. Grady served as the director of transportation for the Brown County Community Unit School District # 1 for several years.
She graduated from Griggsville High School with the class of 1976.
Kathy was a member of the Versailles Christian Church and also attended the LaGrange Chapel in Brown County. She was also a member of the Griggsville American Legion Post #213 Auxiliary. Kathy was an active volunteer in her community, who was known to help where ever needed. She truly loved the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her mother, Maxine Garrett of Griggsville. 3 daughters Alicia Grady of Versailles, Ashley Cawthon (Bryon) of Griggsville and Abby Knous (Jared) of Beardstown. 3 grandchildren Addison James Grady, Emersyn Renee Cawthon and Grady Christopher Knous. 2 brothers John David Garrett (Diann) of Griggsville and Bill Garrett of Mt. Sterling. 3 sisters Shirley Ward (Jim), Betty Gail Miller and Linda Binstead (Charles) all of Griggsville also survive along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, 2 brothers Merle Edward and Phillip Eugene Garrett and 1 sister Vickie Harris.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2016 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Rev. Matt Haberman officiating.
Burial will be in the Versailles West Side Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Friends may also call from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Versailles Pool.
