Larry R. Vose, age 67, of Chambersburg, Illinois passed away at 3:04 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born March 21, 1949 the son of James Russell and Bessie Jane Smith Vose.  He married Laura Grace Hester on December 14, 1990 in Beardstown, Illinois and she survives

Larry worked as a production superintendent for Kent Feeds in Beardstown for 33 years, retiring in 2001.  He also assisted in the operation of the family farm.

Larry graduated from Meredosia-Chambersburg High School and attended Hannibal LaGrange College. 

He was a member of the Chambersburg Christian Church, the Cass Lodge #23 A.F.&A.M. and the Chambersburg Sportsmans Club. 

Larry was many things to many people;  son, husband, dad, poppy, uncle, brother, and friend.  He was always thinking of others before himself.  In the words of his grandchildren, "he was the best poppy ever".  All who knew him will miss his smile; his teasing; his laughter; his love; his kindness; his patience; and his gentle strength.  He was a man of integrity in all he did and generous with all he had.  

Surviviors include his wife Laura Grace Vose of Chambersburg.  His mother Bessie Jane Vose of Chambersburg.  6 children  Angel Hamilton (James Kitchell) and their children Tommy and Ty of Timewell; Tommy Dewitt and his son Ayden of Chapin; Michael DeWitt (Jenelle) of Chapin; Gina Hayes (Jeff) and their son Drew of Jacksonville; Nate Davidson (Shelby) and their daughter Cloe of Meredosia; Kristen Davidson (Jake Dunmire) and their children Allie, Owen and Gracie of Griggsville.  1 sister Marcia Vose Holdsworth (Wally) of Prescott, Arizona.  1 nephew Peter Holdsworth and 1 niece Amy Mayes also survives along with1 special cousin Trish Sussenbach of Vandalia, Illinois and her son Michael and family of Mt. Sterling. 

He was preceded in death by his father.

Per his request, cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt.Sterling with Pastor Jeremy Norton officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will follow in the Wilson Cemetery in Perry, Illinois.  Following the burial at Wilson Cemetery a dinner will be served at the Perry United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Meredosia Bluffs Fire Rescue Squad.

 The Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt.Sterling is in charge of the arrangements.
