Margie Louise Butler, age 82, of Mt. Sterling, passed away at 12:25 a.m. on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois.

She was born August 2, 1934 in Brown County, Illinois the daughter of Leo John and Marie Gleason Lehne. 

She married Lyle Kent Butler on April 1, 1978 in Mt. Sterling, Illinois and he preceded her in death on March 8, 2004.

Mrs. Butler was a medical transcriptionist for both the Springfield Clinic and McDonough District Hospital for several years.

She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy with the class of 1952 and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church both in Mt. Sterling.

Margie loved quilting with her friends and they proudly made quilts for charities to raffle for fundraisers.  She was also active in the Knox County Right to Life.

Survivors include 5 children Kevin Butler of Mt. Sterling, Jana Harvey (Edward) of Springfield, Lori Norvell of Mt. Sterling, Lyle T. Butler (Karen) of Girard and Lynn Bradbury of Mt. Sterling.  1 sister Helen Rupert of Galesburg.  2 sisters-in-law Collette Butler of Chatham and Rae Felker of Sacramento, California.  13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren also survive along with several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother Richard Lehne and 2 sisters Rosemary Petersen and JoAnn Rupert.

Per Margie’s request cremation will be accorded and a graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2016 in the Hersman Cemetery with Father Steve Thompson officiating.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling. 

Memorials are suggested to the Knox County Right to Life or the Hersman Cemetery.
