Mary Jeanette McClelland, age 91, a resident of Villa Health Care East in Sherman, Illinois and formerly of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 4:40 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the nursing home.

She was born March 1, 1925 in Perry Township in Pike County, Illinois the daughter of Lloyd and Florence Barker Lipcaman.  She married Charles A. McClelland on June 4, 1944 at the United Methodist Church parsonage in Mt. Sterling and he survives.

Mrs. McClelland was the produce manager for Roe Food Service in Mt. Sterling for over 15 years.

She graduated from Mt. Sterling High School. 

Mrs. McClelland was a member of the Mt. Sterling First United Methodist Church. 

She always enjoyed reading, working word puzzles and playing canasta with her friends, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband Charles A. McClelland of Sherman, Illinois.  2 children Charles L. (Sharon) McClelland of Jacksonville, Illinois and Dianne (Richard) DeRosa of Springfield, Illinois.  1 sister Barbara Jo Lewis of Quincy, Illinois.  7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren also survive along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son Dan McClelland and 2 sisters Norma Jean Lawrence and Lois Keith.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2016 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Pastor Charla Meyers officiating.

Burial will be held in the Hersman Cemetery in Hersman, Illinois.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home. 

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
