Richard Leverton

Richard Lee Leverton, age 51, of Quincy, Illinois and formerly of Versailles passed away at 9:10 a.m. Thursday, April 6, 2017 at his residence.

He was born December 9, 1965 in Beardstown, Illinois the son of Diana Leverton.  He married Debra Lynn Fox on November 4, 1983 at the First Baptist Church of Mt. Sterling and she survives.

Richard had worked for both Markert Trucking and Dot Foods in Mt. Sterling for several years.

He graduated from Brown County High School with the class of 1984 and attended the First Baptist Church in Mt. Sterling.  Richard was a nature lover who always enjoyed spending time outdoors, golfing and attending auctions, where he loved finding a good deal.  Richard also known to spend time with his friends at the township shed solving all the world’s problems.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Lynn Leverton of Quincy.  His mother Diana Lockman and step father Richard Lockman of Beardstown.  3 children Dean, Samantha and Anna Marie Leverton all of Quincy.  2 brothers Eric Kunkel (April) of Rushville and Aaron Walker (Cindy) of Versailles.  2 sisters Linda Clark (Fiancée, Brent Niekamp) of Mt. Sterling and Becky Kunkel of Atlanta, Georgia.  2 aunts Liz Dilday (Stan) of Marissa, Illinois and Donna Lagergren (Scott) of Jacksonville, Illinois.  1 uncle Russell Leverton (Janice) of Mt. Sterling also survives along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Hugh and Joan Leverton.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2017 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Rev. Aaron Foster officiating. 

Burial will be in the Cooperstown Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home.  Friends may also call from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Mt. Sterling.
