Robert Lynn “Bob” “Jingles” Hester, age 70, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016 at his residence.

He was born January 17, 1946 in Quincy, Illinois the son of Nelson James and Ida Mae Parn Hester. 

Mr. Hester worked for the City of Mt. Sterling Water and Sewer Department for over 25 years, retiring in 1988.  He then worked for both Schuyler-Brown and Two Rivers FS in Mt. Sterling for several years. 

He graduated from Brown County High School with the class of 1964. 

Mr. Hester was a member of the First Christian Church of Mt. Sterling and the Hardin Lodge #44 A.F. & A.M.

Jingles was known as a true nature lover who always enjoyed spending time outdoors.  He enjoyed woodworking, leather working, hunting, playing his guitar and he especially enjoyed being the crew chief for his son’s derby cars.  Jingles also enjoyed helping train Standardbred race horses and truly loved the time he spent socializing with his friends at the horse barns, but those who knew him, knew that his greatest joy was spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Survivors include 2 sons Josh Hester (Nicole) and Jeremy Hester (companion, Jessica Clark) all of Mt. Sterling.  3 grandchildren Coltan Behymer and Makayla and Lathan Hester all of Mt. Sterling.  1 sister Sharon Garthaus (Ed) of Mt. Sterling also survives along with several nieces and nephews and his grand dog Brooke. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2016 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Rev. Aaron Foster officiating.

Burial will be in the Mt. Sterling Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.  A masonic service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home by the Hardin Lodge # 44 A.F. & A.M.  Friends may also call from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services on Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the family.
