Ronald Cletus “Ronnie” Koch, age 70, of Mt. Sterling, passed away at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at his residence.
He was born July 19, 1946 in Quincy, Illinois the son of Cletus M. and Eleanor M. Geisler Koch. He married Patty Jo Armstrong on May 4, 1968 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling and she survives.
Ronnie was a lifelong Brown County Farmer.
He graduated from St. Mary’s Academy with the class of 1964 and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling.
Mr. Koch was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served his country in the United States Army.
Ronnie was a member of the Knight of Columbus Council No. 1281, the Nocturnal Adoration Society and was very active in Cursillo, TEC and REC. He always enjoyed hunting, fishing, telling jokes, painting and woodworking, but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Patty Jo Koch of Mt. Sterling. 3 children Todd Koch (Jennifer), Hannah Heldt (Matt) and Sarah Henry (Darren) all of Mt. Sterling. 6 grandchildren Paige Koch (Fiancée, Lance McGinnis), Ally Heldt, Belle Koch, Lane Heldt and Faith and Ella Henry. He was also anxiously awaiting the arrival of his 7th grandchild in July. 2 great grandchildren Brantley and Connor McGinnis also survive along with 3 sisters Jovita A. Cozean of Moodus, Connecticut, Janet E. Yakle (Jerry) of Elgin, Illinois and Mary I. Hill (Mark) of Mt. Sterling and 1 brother Jerry R. Koch (Cathleen) of Mt. Sterling. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother Edward Koch.
Funeral mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2017 in the Holy Family Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling.
Burial will be in the Mt. Sterling Catholic Cemetery. A military service will be conducted at the graveside.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling. Friends may also call from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Mary’s School.
