Janice Ann Mielke nee Ham, age 78, of St. Charles, Missouri and formerly of Versailles, Illinois passed away at 6:40 a.m. Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Cedarhurst Assisted Living and Memory Care in St. Charles, Missouri.
She was born September 30, 1940 in Ripley, Illinois the daughter of Henry Alden and Wilma Darlene Dewitt Ham. She married Merle Harry Mielke on June 27, 1959 in San Diego, California and he preceded her in death on May 17, 2007.
Mrs. Mielke worked for Hitchner Manufacturing in O’Fallon, Missouri for 17 years and later worked for Francis Howell School District.
She attended Brown County schools and graduated from Sweet Water Union High School in National City, California.
Ann enjoyed going to thrift shops and antiques stores and was an excellent baker, known for her cinnamon rolls.
Survivors include 2 sons Donald Mielke and Darrell Mielke (Kimberly) all of St. Charles, Missouri. 2 brothers Virgil Ham of East Peoria, Illinois and Lewis R. Ham of Versailles, Illinois. 2 sisters Jean Kenlon and Karen Ham both of Versailles, Illinois. 4 grandchildren Megan Mielke of Columbia, Missouri, Kaitlyn Mielke of O’Fallon, Missouri and Derek and Laura Mielke both of St. Charles, Missouri also survive along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister Patricia McDaniel and 2 brothers Alden Ray “Tubby” Ham and Gary E. Ham.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2019 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Pastor Matt Haberman officiating.
Burial will be in the Versailles West Side Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
