Benny Bruce Bradbury, age 72, of Versailles, Illinois passed away at 6:59 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at his residence.

He was born February 25, 1945 in Brown County, Illinois the son of Roy Marden and Garnet Eileen Pritchet Bradbury. 

Mr. Bradbury worked as a journeyman electrician at the CIPS Power Plant in Meredosia for several years, before his retirement.

He graduated from Brown County High School with the class of 1963.

Mr. Bradbury was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served his country in the United States Army. 

He was of the Christian Faith and was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and a charter member of the Versailles Lions Club.  Benny was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and was known as a very patriotic man, who dearly loved his country.

Survivors include 4 children Michael Bradbury (Melanie) of Arizona, Brian Bradbury (Niki Doyle) of Versailles, Jennifer Bradbury of Versailles and Kesha Osborne of Meredosia.  2 brothers Richard Bradbury of Mt. Sterling and Gale Bradbury (Lulu) of Versailles.  1 sister Rita Christner (Sonny) of Quincy.  5 grandchildren Quintin Bradbury, Reese Bradbury, Brandon Bradbury, Carter Crow and Kaia Osborne also survive along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers William “Bill” and Ronald Bradbury.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 17, 2017 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Rev. Matt Haberman officiating.  A military service will be conducted by the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Detail at the funeral home.

Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. (noon) until the time of services on Sunday at the funeral home.

Per his request, cremation will be accorded following the services and private burial will be in the Versailles West Side Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Brown County Ambulance Service.
