Danny Jay Martin, age 50, of Ripley, Illinois passed away at 1:54 a.m. on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

He was born July 17, 1967 in Rushville, Illinois the son of James and Velma Phillips Martin.  He married Melanie Bowman on October 30, 1993 in Mt. Sterling, Illinois and she survives.

Danny was a truck driver for Landes Trucking in Jacksonville, Illinois for several years. 

He attended Brown County High School and was of the Christian faith.  Danny was an avid Dallas Cowboy’s fan and loved watching Sunday football.

Survivors include his wife Melanie Martin of Ripley, Illinois.  4 children Kayla Simmons (Jeff) of Winder, Georgia, Dillion Martin of Ripley, Illinois, Taylor Hay (fiancée, Jason Louner) and Josh Lynn (Mary) of Springfield, Illinois.  4 grandchildren Miley Hay and Michael, Will and Jamie Lynn.  4 brothers Ron Martin (companion, Sheila) of Pittsfield, Illinois, Randy Martin (Vicky) and David Martin (Cindy) all of Mt. Sterling and Roger Martin (Joy) of Versailles also survives along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 grandson Bennie Simmons, 2 brothers Donald “Frankie” and James L. “Jimmy” Martin and 1 sister Donna Pool.

Per his request cremation will be accorded and a celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2018 in the Ripley Church of God in Ripley, Illinois.
