David Joe McHatton, age 63, a resident of Aperion Care Nursing Home in Jacksonville, Illinois and formerly of Rushville, Quincy and Mt. Sterling passed away at 1:00 a.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, Illinois.
He was born September 11, 1955 in Quincy, Illinois the son of Joseph Frederick and Wanda Louise Koch McHatton.
David was a truck driver for both the Hood Trucking and Rushville Truck Lines.
He graduated from Brown County High School and was of the Catholic Faith.
David enjoyed fishing, competing in demolition derby’s, umpiring youth baseball and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packer fan.
Survivors include 6 children Jennifer Myers (Brian) of Quincy, Illinois, Julie Rilea of Lewistown, Illinois, Bobby McHatton (Cherri) of Virginia, Illinois, Franky McHatton (Rachel) of Hannibal, Missouri, Duane McHatton (Jamie) of Virginia, Illinois and Brandy Hetrick (Fiancée, Cameron Daily) of Jacksonville, Illinois. 3 brothers Larry Quinn (Diane) of Payson, Illinois, Dearld McHatton (Diane) of Quincy, Illinois and Gearld McHatton (Cindy) of Payson, Illinois. 21 grandchildren and 10 step grandchildren also survive along with 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2019 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Father Steve Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in the Mt. Sterling Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
