Derek Wilson

Derek Stephen Wilson, age 28, of Pittsfield, Illinois and formerly of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 2:04 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2017 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

He was born July 29, 1988 in Rushville, Illinois the son of Dale, Sr. and Lori Miller Poe. 

Derek attended Brown County schools and worked as a dishwasher for several area restaurants.

He attended both the First Baptist Church in Versailles and the Crossing Church in Pittsfield.

Derek also enjoyed participating in the Brown County Youth Action Team.

Survivors include his mother, Lori Poe of Mt. Sterling.  His maternal grandmother Viola Miller of Golden.  1 brother Dale Poe, Jr. of Brownsville, Tennessee.  1 sister Barbara Poe of Mt. Sterling.  2 nieces Taylinn and Aleah Poe also survive along with several aunts and uncles including Sheila Miller of Versailles. 

He was preceded in death by his father, 2 nephews in infancy, maternal grandfather Ethan Miller and paternal grandparents Harold and Barbara Poe.

Cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Pastor Adam Smith officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.
