Dolores Sides

Dolores June Sides, age 88, of Versailles, Illinois passed away at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at her residence.

She was born February 2, 1931 in Mt. Sterling, Illinois the daughter of Ralph Walter and Alice Louise Howard Buss.  She married Hubert Eugene Sides on September 3, 1952 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling and he preceded her in death on October 18, 2017. 

Mrs. Sides was a homemaker and had also worked at the Brown County State Bank in Mt. Sterling for several years.   

She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Mt. Sterling with the class of 1948. 

Dolores was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling.  She was also a member of Holy Family Women’s Guild where she organized the funeral dinners for many years.  

Survivors include 2 sons David Sides and Darin Sides (Kara) all of Versailles.  2 grandchildren Addison and Carson Sides both of Versailles.  1 sister MaryAnn Yeakel (John) of Mt. Sterling.  1 brother John Buss of Meredosia also survives along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son in infancy and 3 sisters Jeanette Flynn, Barbara Langan and Harriett “Jean” Carpenter. 

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019 in the Holy Family Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling with Father Steve Thompson and Deacon Mike Ellerman officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mt. Sterling Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s School, Brown County Against Cancer or Versailles Genealogical and Historical Society.
