Dorothy Simmons

Dorothy Nell Simmons, age 91, of Beardstown, Illinois passed away at 8:13 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Heritage Health South in Beardstown, Illinois.

She was born September 18, 1925 in Bluff Springs, Illinois the daughter of Clay and Nellie Brown Coil.  She married Edwin J. Simmons on August 17, 1947 in Beardstown, Illinois and he preceded her in death on June 9, 1979.

Mrs. Simmons was a homemaker.  She attended Bluff Springs, Beardstown Elementary schools and Beardstown High School.

Dorothy was a member of the Bethel Church of the Nazarene south of Bluff Springs, Illinois.

Survivors include 2 children Janet Pepper of Arenzville, Illinois and Dale Simmons (Anne) of Olatha, Kansas.  1 brother William H. Coil (Fadra) of La Palma, California.  4 grandchildren Rev. Marvin Pepper (Becky), Matthew Simmons (Darleta), Joshua Simmons (Carlie) and Andrew Simmons (Fiancée, Jingwen Pan).  8 great grandchildren Karlie, Cailyn, Trey and Abbie Pepper and Jackson, Lailah, Hailey and Kaitlin Simmons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters Margaret Hendricker and Betty Fritz Kiser and 2 brothers Homer and Donald Coil .

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017 in the Bethel Church of the Nazarene, south of Bluff Springs.

Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries.
