Howard Dale "Tuffy" McGlasson, age 84, of Versailles, Illinois passed away at 4:53 p.m. Monday, November 27, 2017 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, Illinois.

He was born January 17, 1933 in Morgan County, Illinois the son of Harley and Hazel Bond McGlasson.  He married Donna Jean Lawson on January 12, 1957 in Cass County, Illinois and she preceded him in death on July 2, 2008. 

Mr. McGlasson was an equipment operator through I.B.E.W. Local No. 51 in Springfield, Illinois for many years. 

Howard served his country in the United Sates Army from 1953 until 1955.

Earlier in life he enjoyed hunting and fishing and more recently he enjoyed gardening and socializing with his friends.

Survivors include 6 children Karl McGlasson of Jacksonville, Illinois, Karen Herald (David) of North Carolina, Sandra Cawvey (Kevin) of Champaign, Illinois, Steven McGlasson (Mary) of Florida and Ronald and Douglas McGlasson both of Versailles, Illinois.  1 sister Alberta Herrin of Wood River, Illinois.  6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren also survive along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son Jerry Dale McGlasson, 1 granddaughter Jessica Cawvey, 3 brothers Ormond, Harold and Mardell McGlasson and 3 sisters Sharon Castleberry, Marjorie Matthews and Beverly Castleberry. 

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017 in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Brown County with Pastor Steve Surratt officiating.  A military service will be conducted at the graveside by the Mt. Sterling American Legion Post #374.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.
