Joyce Sides

Joyce Elaine Sides, age 76, of Jacksonville, Illinois passed away at 11:33 a.m. Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, Illinois.

She was born April 1, 1942 in Chambersburg, Illinois the daughter of Coleman and Edna Surratt.  She married Ralph M. Sides, Jr. in November of 1964 in Springfield, Illinois and he survives.

Mrs. Sides was a saleswoman for the Fuller Brush Company for several years.  She also served as a caregiver for the state of Illinois and was an avid environmentalist who protested alongside native american environmentalist.  

She attended Meredosia schools and graduated from Brown County High School.

Mrs. Sides was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include her husband Ralph Sides, Jr. of Jacksonville, Illinois.  2 daughters Diana Middendorf of Jacksonville, Illinois and Angel Sides of Springfield, Illinois.   3 grandchildren Levi and Trevor Middendorf and Sondra Brown.  4 great grandchildren Aeriona and Alfonso Sykes and Hunter and Emma Brown also survive along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother Vernon Surratt and 1 sister Marilyn Agans.

Cremation will be accorded and a graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018 in the Versailles West Side Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials are suggested to the Versailles Christian Church.
