Kenneth Marlin Laning, age 59, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois was pronounced dead at 12:42 a.m. Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the scene of an automobile accident in rural Brown County.
He was born October 22, 1958 in Phoenix, Arizona and was adopted by Wayne L. and Mildred Gertrude Miller Laning.
Mr. Laning owned and operated Crystal Construction in Mt. Sterling for several years. He graduated from Brown County High School with the class of 1976.
Kenny was a member of the Ripley Church of God.
Survivors include 1 son Timothy Wayne Laning (Carrie) of Versailles. 3 grandchildren Avery, Tessa and Aubrey Laning all of Versailles. 1 brother Robert Laning (Karen) of Mt. Sterling. 2 aunts Esther Laning of Mt. Sterling and Betty Hicks of Texas. 1 uncle Clause Miller of Missouri also survives along with 2 nephews, 2 great nieces and 3 great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Per his request cremation will be accorded and a memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.
Private burial of the cremated remains will be held at a later date in the Ripley Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to his grandchildren’s education fund.
