Lana Darlene Rainey Leidner, age 68, of Vandalia, Illinois and formerly of Greenville, Illinois passed away at 6:16 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

She was born December 11, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of Cecil Ray and Mary Helen White Garmon.  She married Robert William Rainey, Jr. on December 29, 1972 at the Woburn Baptist Church and he preceded her in death on December 16, 2008.  She later married Charles Leidner and he survives.

Lana was a scheduling clerk for Utlaut Memorial Hospital in Greenville for several years.

She was a member of the Columbus Baptist Church.

Lana enjoyed sewing and playing cards, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Leidner of Vandalia, Illinois.  2 children William J. Rainey (Beth) of Greenville, Illinois and Angela Sussenbach (Mike) of Mt. Sterling, Illinois.  4 step children Robert W. Rainey (Dianna) of Arkansas, Thomas W. Rainey (Diana) of Centralia, Illinois, Jackie Paine (John) and Regina Niepert (William) all of Mulberry Grove, Illinois.  4 brothers Gary Garmon (Jan), Larry Garmon (Debra), David Garmon (Steff) and John S. Kelly (Lois).  2 sisters Brenda Meyer (Dennis) and Marsha Rhodes (Mike).   9 grandchildren William Rainey, Chelsea Coleman-Scott, Dalton, Colton, Canon and Carsten Rainey, Jake Lofland and Tanner and Lanny Sussenbach.  6 great grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren Chanc Rainey, Jessika Rainey, Austin Rainey, Tammy Hubbard, Tim Hubbard, Ryan Paine, Kasie Jernigan, Eric Niepert, Kylee Evans, Jessica Gutherie and Kara Black.  24 step great grandchildren also survive along with 26 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters Janet L. Meyer, Mary D. Malan and Sharon J. Taylor, 1 brother Ralph Kelly and 1 step great grandchild.

Per Lana’s wishes cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017 in the First Christian Church in Greenville, Illinois. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the ALS Association and may be left at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.
