Richard Allen Harman, Sr., age 63, of Mt. Sterling passed away at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville, Illinois.
He was born December 10, 1954 in Van Wert, Ohio the son of Raymond J., Sr. and Viola Layton Harman and was raised by his loving mother, Mary C. Chapman Harman. He married Eva F. Winner on March 18, 2000 in Mt. Sterling and she survives.
Mr. Harman was a truck driver having worked for Thompson, Inc. for 16 years and later for Keane Thummel Trucking, Inc. for 10 years.
He graduated from Deming, New Mexico High School.
Mr. Harman served his country in the United States Army National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Eva F. Harman of Mt. Sterling. His birth mother, Viola. His mother who raised him Mary C. Harman of Deming, New Mexico. 3 children Richard Harman, Jr., Tammy Sue Harman and Diane Kruse all of Mt. Sterling. 6 grandchildren Cody Harman, Brandon Tracy, Elisa Traylor, Louie Bedenbender, Cheyenne Hendricks and Lilly Morton. 2 great grandchildren Jackson and Blake. 4 brothers Raymond Harman, Jr. of Deming, New Mexico, Roger Harman of San Diego, California, Robert Harman of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and David Harman of Los Angeles, California. 3 sisters Vicki Lee Shoup of Delta, Ohio, Rea Harris of Apache Junction, Arizona and Laura Schott of Van Wert, Ohio also survive along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, 1 son Robert Harman in infancy, 1 grandson Malachi in infancy and 1 sister Linda Richardson.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Saturday, May 19, 2018 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Pastor Matt Haberman officiating.
Burial will be in the Mt. Sterling City Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.
