Sam Leverton

Sam Leverton, age 88, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 1:08 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville, Illinois.

He was born March 6, 1931 in Brown County, Illinois the son of George and Ruth Morrell Leverton. 

Sam was a farmer.  He also enjoyed fishing and was an avid deer hunter. 

Survivors include 4 children Robert Lee Leverton (Mary Jo) of Huntsville, Illinois, Darlene Edlin (Robert) and Dube Luthy (Roger) all of Versailles, Illinois and Steve Leverton of Bowen, Illinois.  1 sister Linda Bebe (Dick) of Monmouth, Illinois.  11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren also survive along with several nieces, nephews and his longtime friend and companion Beverly Thomas of Versailles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 7 brothers and 1 sister.  

Per his request, cremation will be accorded and private burial will be held in the Cooperstown Cemetery in Brown County.

Memorials are suggested to the Cooperstown Cemetery and may be left at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.
