Shari Diane Volk, age 69, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 2:34 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri of an acute illness.
Shari was born April 9, 1950 in Rushville, Illinois the daughter of Fred and Lavona Smith Brown. She married Daniel Louis Volk on December 20, 1969 in Mt. Sterling, Illinois and he survives.
Shari sold Avon for 44 years and had also worked from O’Neil’s Drug Store in Mt. Sterling for many years until retiring in 2010.
Shari enjoyed making people laugh with the jokes she told, especially wild inappropriate ones to the appropriate crowd. She enjoyed her family and most of all her furry animals, Baron and Luna, who already miss her.
Shari was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel Volk of Mt. Sterling. 1 daughter Kari (“B”) Terry of Mt. Sterling, 2 sons Jason (Michelle) Volk of Mt. Sterling and Ryan Volk of Meredosia. 7 grandchildren, Jordan (Natasha) Jones, Dani Jones, Tori Jones, Brandon Volk, Landon Volk and Ava Ashcraft all of Mt. Sterling and Haley Rode of Lima, Ohio. 3 great grandchildren Jax, Jayda and Jensen Jones all of Mt. Sterling. 1 uncle John Brown of Florida also survives along with 1 cousin Susan Sanford of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an aunt Anna (Pud) Floyd.
Per her request cremation will be accorded and a memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2019 in the Holy Family Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling with Father Steve Thompson officiating.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.
Burial will be in the Mt. Sterling Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Rheumatoid Patient Foundation.
