Bruce and family, I'm so sorry to hear about Shirley's passing. I just recently lost my brother Mike (Moose) Burnett. Even though I was several years younger than Shirley, I can still remember her twirling that baton! Her smile was one in a million. May God grant you all peace and comfort during this time and may Jesus return soon, so we will be reunited with our loved ones who have gone before us.

Thank you for your posting.I am so sorry about Mike. I had planned on going to Mike's visitation which was the evening after I flew back for Shirley's services, but I didn't think I could handle it. Please know that my thoughts and prayers were with you in the midst of our pain of losing Shirley.

Dear Bruce and family,

I was filled with great sadness to learn about Shirley. She was a wonderful person who embraced life. I remember her bright smile and contagious laugh. We had great memories with you, Shirley and your boys when they lived in our neck of the woods in LaSalle and attended Grace Methodist Church. May you feel God's love blanketing you, covering you with His comfort and hope. Ron probably greeted her. I lost Ron the end of April. May God bless you all. --Jeannine Anderson

Dear Bruce and family, I was so shocked and saddened to read of Shirley's death. It is hard to imagine anyone with so much love for life no longer exists. I can only imagine how deep your pain is. Her spirit will live on in you, your sons, and your precious granddaughters. They have so many wonderful memories to treasure. I hope you, too, find comfort in knowing Shirley was loved my so many . All of us who knew her feel blessed. Nursing school would not have been the same without out her.

Dear Bruce, Brannon, Bryan, and darling granddaughters,
Please know how sorry Stan and I were to hear of Shirley's death. Bruce, your pain must be so deep. Please know that faith tells me Shirley will be with you in strange and wonderful ways. She won't leave the love of her life without an awareness of her presence. Her love for all of you and each of you was so great maybe only surpassed by her pride in each one of you. Prayers surround you like a shawl wrapped tightly and securely. Count on them. Love, Mary Jo and Stan.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Please find comfort in God's sure promise of a resurrection as set forth in the Bible. (Acts 24:15; John 5:28,29) Those who are raised to life will have the prospect of never again being subject to misery, sickness, or death. (Revelation 21:4) I hope that reflecting on these thoughts will give you some relief during this difficult time.
