Verna Frost Seckman

Verna Lea Frost Seckman, age 84 a resident of The Villas of Holly Brook in Washington, Illinois and formerly of Jacksonville, Mt. Sterling and Versailles, Illinois passed away at 8:10 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018 at The Villas.

She was born February 27, 1934 the youngest of nine children to Grover C. and Zella F. Mohlenbruck Frost in Versailles Township, Brown County.

Survivors include two children; Don Carlos Seckman of Washington, Illinois and Christa Anne Keran of Phoenix, Arizona.  Six grandchildren; Melissa Swingle (Steve) of Green Valley, Illinois, Matthew Seckman of Nashville, Tennessee, Meredith Albus (Greg) of St. Louis, Missouri, Elliott Seckman of Washington, Illinois, Jordan Keran and Jackson Keran both of Phoenix, Arizona.  Five great grandchildren; Miranda McAdams (Andrew) of Pekin, Illinois, Alexia Wolfe and Michael Seckman both of Green Valley, Illinois, Jase Albus and Lainey Albus both of St. Louis, Missouri.  Two great great grandchildren; Dominick McAdams and Camdin McAdams both of Pekin, Illinois also survive along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Lemuel, Herschel and Morris Frost and five sisters Fern Thoroman, Joyce Dunmire, Maxine Frost, Ann Frost and Vera Frost.

She was a 1962 graduate of Passavant Memorial Hospital, School of Nursing and was employed by the State of Illinois, Department of Mental Health for 36 years.

She was a born-again believer and loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all of her heart.  She was passionate about sharing the Good News of the Gospel with others.  She attended Faith Tabernacle in Jacksonville.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2018 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with her son, Don Carlos Seckman officiating.

Burial will be in the Versailles West Side Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice or “In His Service”, 260 Pine Street, Jacksonville, IL 62650.
