Virginia Lee “Ginny” Lidgard Reische, age 75, of Quincy, Illinois and formerly of Bluffs and Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 3:15 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Sunset Home in Quincy, Illinois.
She was born November 18, 1942 in Mt. Sterling the daughter of Ellsworth X. and Stella Marie Pate Lidgard. In 1960, she married Jerry Mitchell and to this union two children were born, Amy Beth Mitchell-Hart (Brian) of Colfax, Iowa and Daniel Curtis Mitchell (Marcie) of Nixa, Missouri. Three grandchildren Eric Littig (Taylor) of Winchester, Illinois and Abigail and Matthew Mitchell both of Nixa, Missouri and one great grandchild Adalee Littig of Winchester also survive along with one brother Richard Lidgard (Linda) of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, three sisters Marie Clapp and Shirley Daggett (Jerry) all of Quincy, Illinois and Carolyn Kassing (Bob) of Mt. Sterling, Illinois. A brother-in-law Clark Knight (Dixie Wallace) of Timewell, Illinois and many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Paul David Lidgard, a sister Mary Anne Knight, a brother-in-law Russell Clapp and a sister-in-law Pat Lidgard.
Ginny was an avid gardener and landscape planner. She enjoyed hosting garden clubs and family and friends in her home, cabin and backyard. Her creativity was well-known and knew no bounds, from her miniature work to her love for so many projects that people asked her to creative for them. She was especially happy when her family was home. Ginny had many occupations through the years in the banking and bookkeeping fields, but treasured her role as mother and grandmother the very most.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2018 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling, Illinois with Pastor John Hutton officiating.
Burial will follow in the Versailles West Side Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Brown County Against Cancer.
