William "Bill" Kunkel

William Edward “Bill” Kunkel, age 68, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 1:45 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2019 at his residence.

He was born June 12, 1951 in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina the son of Edward L. and Clara B. Mitchell Kunkel. 

Bill was a self-employed carpenter.  He graduated from Brown County High School and was of the Christian faith. Bill enjoyed fishing, woodworking and truly loved making crafts for his family at Christmas. 

Survivors include 2 sisters Cindy Bryant (Dan) of Green Valley, Arizona and Deb Howard of Mt. Sterling, Illinois.  2 brothers Bob Kunkel (Patty) and Rick Kunkel (Cindy) all of Mt. Sterling.  10 nieces and nephews Michelle Bryant, Michael Howard (Liz), Troy Howard, Chad Kunkel (Kim), Doug Kunkel, Stephanie Bryant, Sarah Kelley (Ben), Samantha Bryant, Nathan Kunkel (Megan) and Caitlin Kunkel.  9 great nieces and nephews Chris Howard, Jake, Luke, Hailey, Madisyn, Jordyn, Mason and Ashlyn Kunkel and Liam Kelley. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Charles David and Donald E. Kunkel. 

Cremation has been accorded and graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 11th,2020 in the Mt. Sterling City Cemetery with Pastor Richard Young officiating.

There will be no visitation but family and friends are welcome to attend the services at the cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Sterling Fire Department and may be left at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.
