Barbara Christner

Barbara Jean Christner, age 71, of Timewell, Illinois passed away at 12:25 p.m. on Monday, November 15, 2021 at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville, Illinois.

She was born December 10, 1949 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of Robert J. and Marilyn Joan Root Behrends.  She married Larry Christner on July 14, 1988 and he survives. 

Mrs. Christner worked as a waitress in several area restaurants and had also worked as a cashier for Mt. Sterling IGA for many years. 

Barb graduated from Brown County High School and she always enjoyed going to yard sales where she loved finding unique glassware.  Barb also enjoyed visiting with her family and many friends. 

Survivors include her husband, Larry Christner of Timewell, Illinois.  One daughter Susie Wallace (Todd) of Camp Point, Illinois.  Two grandchildren Patrick Jones of Pinellas Park, Florida and Marilyn Belle Jones of St. Louis, Missouri.  One brother Tony Behrends of Mt. Sterling, Illinois also survives along with one sister Nancy Steinecke of Houston, Texas.  

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Robert Behrends. 

Cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 19, 2021 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling, Illinois.  

The services will also be live streamed on Barbara’s obituary page on the funeral home website at hendrickerfuneralhome.com. 

The state of Illinois has mandated that those attending the services wear a mask.

There will be no visitation.
