Becky Sue Hill, age 63, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 9:38 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2022 at her residence.
She was born March 22, 1958 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of Bobby Afton and Anita Rose Anderson Beckman. She married David O. Hill on June 18, 1977 in Clayton, Illinois and he preceded her in death on August 25, 1994.
Mrs. Hill was a homemaker and also helped provide daycare to several children through the years in her own home, as well as in other daycare providers homes. Becky also worked at Brown County Mental Health and for the Brown County School District for several years. She was a graduate of Central High School with the class of 1976. Becky was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling, Illinois and was also a member of the Clayton American Legion Auxiliary Unit # 286. She was also involved with the Brown County United Way, the Wednesday night bowling league, the Mt. Sterling Harvest Festival, the 4th of July Celebration at the Mt. Sterling Lake and Quincy Cursillo.
Survivors include her mother Anita (Beckman) Hopson of Clayton, Illinois. 3 daughters Sarah Gallaher (Brian), Amanda Hill and Natalie Foote (Cole) all of Mt. Sterling, Illinois. 2 granddaughters Karly and Kinley Gallaher both of Mt. Sterling. 2 brothers Chuck Beckman (Mary) of Columbus, Illinois and Denny Beckman (Jody) of Peoria, Arizona. 2 sisters Barb Cate (Rich) of Camp Point, Illinois and Cindy Beckman of Quincy, Illinois. 1 brother-in-law Mark Hill (Mary) of Mt. Sterling and 1 sister-in-law Sonia Hill of Fowler, Illinois. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive along with longtime friend and companion Darrell Smith of Versailles, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her husband and father.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2022 in the Holy Family Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling with Father Aaron Kuhn and Deacon Paul Koch officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mt. Sterling City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.
The state of Illinois has mandated that those attending the visitation or services wear a mask.
Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Sterling Fire Department or Brown County Against Cancer.
