Elizabeth Marlene “Betty” Lehne, age 83, of Mt.Sterling, Illinois passed away at 10:06 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care in Mt.Sterling.
She was born December 9, 1938 in Schuyler County, Illinois the daughter of Kenneth D. “Greek” and Opal I. Curtis Malcomson. Betty was a homemaker and also worked as a bartender for several area taverns, including The Peacock in Carthage, Illinois where she also served as manager. Earlier in life Betty worked for both the Brown County Ambulance Service and Dr. Patel in Mt. Sterling for several years.
She attended Brown County schools and was of the Catholic faith.
Betty was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Survivors include 2 daughters Susie Buckley (Max) of Mt. Sterling, Illinois and Jeanie Muhs (Lucky) of Calico Rock, Arkansas. 4 grandchildren Rex Kindhart (Jess), Kara Edwards (Scott), Seth McKeown (Ashley) and Bradley Muhs (Leah). 5 great grandchildren Lane (Makayla), Ivy, Penny, Sophia and Elliot. 2 brothers Butch Malcomson of Mexico, Missouri, Snook Malcomson of Campbelsville, Kentucky. 2 sisters Sandy Dunmire (Butch) of Meredosia, Illinois and Rita Phelps of Beardstown, Illinois. Special friends that she considered family Dean Howd, Dee Plowman, Dylan Howd and Collin Howd all of Paris, Tennessee also survive along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers Thomas, Bill and Mike Malcomson, 3 sisters Ivena Mae Malcomson, Myrna Mahe and Marjorie Hill and her longtime companion Eugene Howd.
Cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2022 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Pastor Fred Fritz officiating. Those unable to attend are invited to watch Betty’s service live on her obituary page of the funeral home website, hendrickerfuneralhome.com.
Burial of the cremated remains will follow in the Mt. Sterling City Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice or the Heritage Health Activity Fund.
