Charles Gerhardt Leischner, age 85, of Jacksonville, Illinois and formerly of Arenzville, Beardstown and Versailles passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Illinois
He was born January 11, 1938 in Beardstown, Illinois the son of John and Clara Boehs Leischner. He married Judith Ann Cooper on November 26, 1961 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville and she preceded him in death on April 18, 2022.
Mr. Leischner was a lifelong farmer. He also worked for Excel Corporation in Beardstown for several years and was a dredge operator for Dave Clinard Truck Service, Inc. in Mt. Sterling.
Charles was a devoted member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville. He always enjoyed antique tractors especially IH Farmall and tractor pulling, but his greatest joy was spending time with his granddaughters and his great grandchildren.
Survivors include one son Henry “Hank” Leischner (Karrie Jennings) of Jacksonville, Illinois. Two granddaughters Burlie Schmillen (Dominic) of Sherman, Illinois and Bailie Herchenbach (James) of Palatine, Illinois. Two great grandchildren Sampson and Maverick Schmillen. One brother Edward Leischner (Cheryl) of Arenzville, Illinois. Three sisters Carol Pearson of Lindsborg, Kansas, Arlene Colclasure of Arenzville, Illinois and Linda Six (Jim) of Ainsworth, Iowa also survive along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers Richard, Bill and John Leischner.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2024 in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville with Rev. Andrew Dierks officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Jacksonville, Illinois.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church or School.
