Constantina “Connie” Campbell, age 83, of Mt. Sterling, passed away at 11:53 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Mt.Sterling.
She was born January 27, 1936 in Elmhurst, Illinois the daughter of Sarantos and Catherine Stamatakos. She married Lewis Ray Campbell on December 5, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois and he preceded her in death on December 3, 2009.
Mrs. Campbell worked as a cashier for the Dot Country Store in Mt. Sterling for several years. Connie had also worked as a waitress for several restaurants and had served as a bartender at the Sportmans Club in Mt. Sterling.
She attended Lombard, Illinois schools.
Connie was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, she enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, playing bingo and especially enjoyed attending the Thursday chicks meeting at the IGA.
Survivors include 5 children Lewis Campbell, Jr. (Sherry) of Jacksonville, Illinois, Lois Mae Story (Gary) and Patrick Alan Campbell all of Mt. Sterling, Patricia Ann Clark of Augusta, Illinois and John William Campbell (Shelia) of Manteno, Illinois. 10 grandchildren Brittany, Craig and Jon Erik Rhoades, Randy and Christopher Campbell, James and David Clark, Danielle Kaiser, Megan Roberts and Jersey Story. 2 step grandchildren Jennifer Rice and Dylan Layne. 8 great grandchildren. 3 sisters Elaine Chipman Beeman and Dorothy Haun both of Knoxville, Tennessee and Bea Zech of Lombard, Illinois also survives along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter in infancy, 2 brothers Sonny and Butch Stamatakos and 3 sisters Mary Lorentsen, Betty Garcia and Laurie Stamatakos.
Per her request, cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2020 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Mr. Dave Ferrill officiating.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Brown County Against Cancer or the Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care Activity Fund.
