Darrell Gene Fry, 62, of Wilmington, Illinois, passed away on November 28th, at his home. He was born to parents David and Mary Behrends Fry, on September 22,1958, in Quincy, Illinois. Darrell was a graduate of Brown County High School.
As a young man, Darrell was an avid outdoorsman and Eagle Scout, who enjoyed attending survival trainings at the Philmont Boy Scout High Adventure Base in New Mexico.
He also spent much of his time at the family ‘Fry Garage’, where his father and grandfather taught him the family trade of everything mechanical. It was there that he was introduced to his profession as a welder and acquired his love for race cars and Hemi engines.
Known as a hard worker and well respected in his craft, Darrell (A union Pipefitter from Local 597) participated in the construction and maintenance of multiple power stations across the United States.
He is survived by his mother Mary Fry, daughter Amanda Bayani(Michael), son Nicholas Fry(Ting), daughter Crystal Brinkley(Danny Hendrix), sister Janet Gerstein(Ken), brother Roger Fry(Sharon), sister Joyce Eaton(Mark), grandson Michael, niece Sister Alyssa Eaton, niece Janelle Davis (Tyler), nephew Alex Eaton. Darrell was preceded in death by his father, David Fry.
We know that Darrell deserves a beautiful tribute and understand that under normal circumstances many friends would love to attend. But sadly due to the current health situation and under the direction of the local health department, the services are to be conducted with only immediate family members in attendance.

Burial of the cremated remains will follow in the Hersman Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the Hersman Cemetery or the Midwest Dachshund Animal Rescue and may be left at or mailed to the Hendricker Funeral Home, 406 South Capitol Avenue, Mt. Sterling, IL 62353.
