David Kenlon Obituary

 

David Harry Kenlon, age 85, of Versailles, Illinois passed away at 11:15 a.m. Friday, February 5, 2021 at his residence.  

He was born June 8, 1935 in Baltimore, Maryland the son of Bernard L. Kenlon and Dorothy Bryan and was adopted and raised by his paternal grandparents, Andrew and Myrtle Kenlon.  He married Phyllis Jean Ham on May 9, 1958 in National City, California and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage.  

Mr. Kenlon was a veteran of the Koreon War having served his country in the United States Navy and then went on to have a 30 year career as a civilian working as an instrument mechanic at North Island Naval Air Station in San Diego. 

David enjoyed traveling and earlier in life enjoyed camping and was a motorcycle enthusiast who truly loved riding dirt bikes with his sons.   

Survivors include his wife Phyllis Jean Kenlon of Versailles, Illinois.  3 sons David Kenlon, Jr. (Rosario)of National City, California, Vaughn Kenlon (Teresa) of House Springs, Missouri and Kerry Kenlon (Katie) of Versailles, Illinois.  4 grandchildren Brianne Carlisle of Windsor, New York, Davina Pfalzer of Puyallup, Washington, David Kenlon III of Puyallup, Washington and Nevin Kenlon of Mt. Sterling, Illinois.  3 step grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren also survive along with 4 sisters Charlotte Phillips of Ladysmith, Virginia, Rennie Lea Norris of Bryans Road, Maryland, Jane Lange of LaPlata, Maryland and Linda Hagendorn of Rockville, Maryland.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. 

Cremation will be accorded and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.  

Memorials are suggested to Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice and may be left at or mailed to the Hendricker Funeral Home, 406 South Capitol Avenue, Mt. Sterling, Illinois 62353.
