Dorothy June Cox Perry, age 91, of San Jose, California, and formerly of Brown County and Springfield, Illinois, passed away at 7:19 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.
She was born October 25, 1930 in Vermillion County, Illinois, the daughter of Rae Thomas and Wilma Irene Hatch Cox. She attended Brown County schools and Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. She married Richard Dale Perry on December 17, 1948 at the Hersman Presbyterian Church, and he preceded her in death on February 5, 2005.
Mrs. Perry was the owner of a home furnishings manufacturer, Delta Pi Design Corporation, in San Jose, California for nearly 30 years.
Dorothy was an active member Presbyterian churches in Hersman, Springfield, Phoenix (AZ), and San Jose, where she served terms as deacon and elder.
Survivors include 3 children: Donna R. Perry of San Jose, California, Denise R. Willis (Terrance) and David R. Perry (Debby) all of Campbell, California; a brother, Donald R. Cox of Springfield, Illinois, and two sisters, Mildred I. Quinn (Raymond, Jr.) and F. Arlene Cline, all of Springfield, Illinois survive her, as do 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and 1 daughter, Deborah Perry.
Cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m on Saturday, July 16, 2022 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Rev. Richard Young officiating.
Burial of the cremated remains will follow in the Hersman Cemetery.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Mt. Sterling Presbyterian Church of Christ and may be left at or mailed to the Hendricker Funeral Home, 406 South Capitol Avenue, Mt. Sterling, Illinois 62353.
