Evelyn Willey

Doris Evelyn Willey, age 86, a resident of Pittsfield Manor Nursing Home in Pittsfield, Illinois and formerly of Versailles, Illinois passed away at 12:51 a.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at the nursing home.

She was born April 14, 1936 in Menard County, Illinois the daughter of Theodore and Doris Maxine Covey Sorrells.  She married Paul Edward Willey on April 30, 1983 in Versailles, Illinois and he preceded her in death on December 20, 2015.  

Evelyn served as Brown County Supervisor of Assessments for several years.  She was a graduate of Tallula High School and always enjoyed raising flowers and gardening. 

Survivors include 7 children DeWayne Thomas (Susan) of Denver, Colorado, Ronald Thomas (Angela) of Chandlerville, Illinois, Michael Thomas (Chichi) of Hillview, Illinois, Gary Thomas (Kim) of Easton, Illinois, Ricky Dale Thomas (Kathy) of Oakford, Illinois, Amy Maddox (Bob) of Ashland, Illinois and Kevin Willey (Wendy) of Versailles, Illinois.  2 brothers Thomas Sorrells of California and Melvin Sorrells (Vicki) of Chambersburg, Illinois.  1 sister Judy Young (Eddie) of Winchester, Illinois.  1 brother-in-law Jerry Meek of Colorado.  1 sister-in-law Marcia Curtis (Howard) of Versailles, Illinois also survives along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son Brian Thomas, 1 grandson Billie Thomas and 1 sister Shirley Meek.  

Cremation will be accorded and there will be no services. 

Memorials are suggested to the Brown County Animal Rescue and may be left  at or mailed to the Hendricker Funeral Home, 406 South Capitol Avenue, Mt. Sterling, IL 62353.
