Francis Wayne Roberts

Francis Wayne Roberts, age 80, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Mt. Sterling.

He was born December 15, 1937 in Brown County, Illinois the son of Charles Leonard and Mary Elizabeth Ashbaker Roberts.

Wayne retired from Cargill Meat Solutions in Beardstown, Illinois after 22 years of service.

Mr. Roberts served his country in the United States Army from August of 1961 until August of 1963 with most of his service time in Germany.

Survivors include 3 children David Wayne Roberts and Tammy Troxell both of Beardstown, Illinois and Connie Stratton of Jacksonville.  1 sister Josephine Burkey of Mt. Sterling.  6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Eugene and Ronald Roberts and 1 sister Alberta Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 14, 2018 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Rev. Matt Haberman officiating.

Burial will be in the Mt. Sterling City Cemetery.   A military service will be conducted at the graveside by the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Detail.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services on Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Brown County Against Cancer.
