Fred L. Crenshaw, age 76, of Mt.Sterling, Illinois passed away at 5:18 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2021 at the Iowa City Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.
He was born December 13, 1944 in Macomb, Illinois the son of Fred Eugene and Virginia Rosalie Hendricks Crenshaw.
Fred married Marilyn Dunbar and she survives.
Mr. Crenshaw graduated from Rushville High School and had worked as a railroad conductor for Burlington Northern Railroad for 37 years, retiring in 2009.
Fred was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served his country in the United States Air Force where he received the Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
He always enjoyed hunting, fishing and truly loved the time spent on his farm and with his family.
Survivors include his wife Marilyn Crenshaw of Mount Sterling, 3 children, Lisa Bland (Kevin) of Carrollton, Illinois, Blake Crenshaw of Mount Sterling, Illinois and Michele Jones (Craig) of Huntsville, Illinois. 2 grandsons Will and Luke Bland of Carrollton, Illinois also survive along with 1 sister Katherine Burnside (Bob) of Rushville, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister Linda Sue Crenshaw.
Cremation will be accorded and private services will be held at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the Mount Sterling American Legion Post #374 and may be left at or mailed to the Hendricker Funeral Home, 406 South Capitol Ave., Mount Sterling, Illinois, 62353.
