Gary Howard

Gary Eugene Howard, age 64, of rural Liberty, Illinois passed away at 3:06 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at his residence. 

He was born September 30, 1956 in Carthage, Illinois the son of Ira Thomas and Glenlyn Alene Banks Howard.  He married Linda Limkeman on November 28, 1975 in Keokuk, Iowa and she survives. 

Mr. Howard worked for Gardner Denver for several years, he then worked as a mechanic for Kellers John Deere for over 15 years and later worked for Overhead Door Company all of Quincy.  

He graduated from Augusta Southeastern High School.  

Gary was an avid hunter and fisherman and in 1997 he purchased a farm east of Liberty and truly loved the time spent taking care of his farm. 

Survivors include his wife Linda Howard of Liberty.  2 daughters Gariann Alene Crane (Richard Joshua) of Hannibal, Missouri and Stacie June Owens (Travis) of Chesterfield, Illinois.  2 grandsons Richard Aaron and Alexander Tyler Crane also survive along with several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, good friends and family. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings Carol Jean Howard, Larry Howard, Sherry Vrandenburg, Janice Wurth and Danny Howard. 

A public visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.  

The State of Illinois has mandated that masks are required for those attending the visitation.  

A private funeral service will be held.

Memorials are suggested to the Blessing Diabetes Patient Care Fund.
