Harold (Junior) Limkeman

Harold (Junior) Howard Limkeman, age 81, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 5:57 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at his residence.

He was born March 21, 1938 in Wenatchee, Washington the son of Harold A. and Esther J. Yoe Limkeman.  He married Evalena Small in 1955 and she preceded him in death in 1958.  He then married Norma Cooper.  He later married Jean Vancil on November 9, 1963 and she survives.

Mr. Limkeman served as a foreman for Mobil Chemical Company in Jacksonville, Illinois for over 20 years.  He also worked as an insurance agent for several years.

Mr. Limkeman served his country in the United States Army from 1955 until 1956.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Sterling.  Harold also loved harness racing and had owned and trained standardbred race horses for several years.

Survivors include his wife Jean Limkeman.  9 children Linda Howard (Gary), Travis Limkeman, Larry Limkeman, Carla Thomas, Howard Limkeman, Craig Limkeman, Sheri Kelley (Kevin) Chris Kerr (Jim), David Limkeman and James Limkeman (Julie).  1 brother Larry A. Limkeman.  17 grandchildren Gariann, Stacie, Gina, Stephanie, Sara, Brent, Dustin, Grant, Cory, Melissa, Nicole, Jessica, Tabitha, Megan, Joshua, Samuel and Caleb also survive along with 13 great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son Victor Limkeman and 1 grandson Toby Limkeman.

Per his request, cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2019 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Pastor Aaron Foster officiating.  A military service will be conducted at the funeral home. 

Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.

Private inurnment will be held at a later date in the Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois.
