Jack Wade Obituary

Jack Richard Wade, age 78, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 2:15 a.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2021 in his home surrounded by his family.

Jack was born November 15, 1942 in Pittsfield, Illinois the son of Walter “Bud” and Mildred Fox Wade.  He married his high school sweetheart, Linda Harmon, on December 9, 1961.  Jack is survived by his wife, Linda Wade of Mt. Sterling, Illinois.  One son David Wade of Richmond, Virginia.  Two daughters Gretchen Long (Kyle) and Rachel Boylen (Jon) all of Mt. Sterling, Illinois. Six grandchildren Chelsea Crews, Garrett Brimer, Jordan Brimer, Austin Boylen, Alana Boylen and Alec Boylen (Julie).  One great grandson, Walker Brimer also survives along with one brother, Rex Wade (Wanda) of Cabot, Arkansas.

Jack was a devoted member of the Mt. Sterling Church of the Nazarene, where he served the church in numerous capacities including as a board member for many years.

He worked at Oscar Mayer for 17 years and also enjoyed his job working for Triad Coal Mine and various other occupations.  In his later years, Jack especially liked working and spending time with his co-workers at Prairie Land, F.S.

Jack was known for his infectious laugh and contagious smile, and loved sharing stories with friends and family.  Jack and Linda loved to spend time together in the woods looking for ginseng and hunting mushrooms.  He loved all kinds of hunting, but his true passion was fishing on the river in search of the “one big catfish”.  His greatest love of all was spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Julie Anne Wade and two brothers Hugh Dean Wade and Bob Wade.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 6, 2021 in the Mt. Sterling Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Bob Willis officiating.

Burial will follow in the Green Pond Cemetery near Pearl, Illinois.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services on Monday at the church.
