John Fry, Sr.

John Harlen Fry, Sr., age 68, of Auburn, Illinois and formerly of Springfield, Illinois and Ripley, Illinois passed away at 7:10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at the home of his son in Springfield, Illinois.

He was born October 28, 1954 in Frankfort, Germany the son of Harlen and Rosemary Fry.  He married Betty Ann Mills on September 2, 2002 in Springfield, Illinois and she preceded him in death on December 26, 2014.

Mr. Fry worked construction through Local # 477 in Springfield, Illinois for 30 years before retirement.  

John attended Springfield High School and truly loved spending time outdoors, fishing, riding his Harley and having a beer (or several beers) with his friends. 

Survivors include 2 children Melissa Sullivan (Michael) of Spring, Texas and John H. Fry, Jr of Springfield, Illinois (wife, Lauren Ewert of Secor, Illinois).  3 grandchildren Alexis and Hailey Fry and Kyle Summer.  3 brothers Jerry Fry (Wendy) of Salisbury, Illinois, Jim Fry (Linda) and Larry Fry all of Springfield, Illinois.  2 sisters Roseanne Fry of Springfield, Illinois and Brenda Patton of Buffalo, Illinois also survive along with several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2023 in the Ripley Cemetery in Ripley, Illinois with Pastor Ethan Sefton officiating. There will be no visitation.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice and may be left at or mailed to the Hendricker Funeral Home, 406 South Capitol Avenue, Mt. Sterling, Illinois 62353.
