        Raymond Lozelle Bunfill went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 25th, 2023 at 7:10 A.M. at Carriage Crossing Senior Living in Arcola, IL under Transitions Hospice Care.

         Raymond Lozelle Bunfill was born near Cooperstown in Brown County, IL. on February 3rd, 1926 to Thomas Raymond {Ray} and Ethel Mae Herren Bunfill. He attended the Cooperstown, Perry and Hill grade schools in Brown County and the Hersman and Brown County Community High Schools, and graduated in 1943.

         He was a veteran of World War 2, having served with the U.S. Army in the Philippines and with the Occupational Forces in Korea following the war. He attained the rank of Master Sergeant.

         Lozelle received Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour at age eleven and served his Lord in the Cooperstown Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church of Beardstown, the First Baptist Church of Versailles, Illinois, Central Baptist Church of Decatur, Illinois and Lakeside Baptist Church of Sullivan, Illinois.. He was involved in music, served as Bible teacher, helped in the Prison Ministry and the Nursing Home ministry and was a Deacon in his church for many years. He and his wife, Donna, were called upon many times to sing at funerals and a few weddings through the years. They had traveled to every state in the union and to several foreign countries, including two trips to Israel.

         Lozelle married Donna Rose Colclasure in Jacksonville, IL on January 9th, 1947 and they had five children, Thomas Melroy, Keith Lozelle, Lonnie Wayne, Victoria Lee and Felicia Gaye.

         He was a farmer in Brown County for forty years and became a Rural Mail Carrier after having served as a substitute for many years and retired in 1989.

         Lozelle loved the Lord, his family and life itself. He is survived by his wife, Donna and by sons Tom and his wife Kathy of Sullivan, IL., Keith and his wife Jo Ellen of Creal Springs, IL., Daughter-in-law Sherri Bunfill of Sherwood, Oregon and by two daughters Vicki and her husband Jack Peterson of Sullivan, IL. and Felicia and her husband Jason McEntire of Athens, Texas, a sister-in-law Shirley Bunfill of Marion, Indiana, 11 grandchildren, two step grandchildren, twenty six great-grandchildren, one step great grandchild, two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Lonnie, one brother, Gordon and two sisters, Helen and Grace Mae.    

             Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 7, 2023 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with his son Keith Bunfill officiating.

Those unable to attend are invited to watch the service live on his obituary page of the funeral home website, hendrickerfuneralhome.com. 

Burial will follow in the Hersman Cemetery with military honors to be conducted by the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Detail. 

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m until the time of services on Friday at the funeral home.

There will also be a Memorial Service held on July 22nd at Elim Springs Church of Jesus Christ in Sullivan, IL, beginning with a visitation at 10:00 a.m. with the Memorial Service following at 11:00 a.m.

Memorials are suggested to Central Baptist Church of Decatur, 1275 Mount Gilead Road, Decatur, IL 62521.
